Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa), also known as Jamaican sorrel or Florida cranberry, is a tropical plant known for its edible, tart red calyces used in teas, jams, and sauces. Attractive lobed leaves on reddish stems and creamy white to pale yellow hibiscus-like flowers that appear in late summer to fall.
Size: 48–72″ with a bushy, upright habit / 24-48″ wide
Sunlight: Full sun but benefits from afternoon shade in extremely hot climates
Roselle is grown as an annual in most regions and as a tender perennial in USDA zones 9–11. It loves heat, well-draining fertile soil, and consistent moisture.
