Purple passionflower, also known as Maypop, is a fast-growing Alabama native perennial vine with lavender-purple flowers and sweet edible fruit.  It produces 3-5″ inch fragrant blooms from early summer through fall.  I grow it for the Gulf Fritillary caterpillars (seen in one of the pictures).  It is their only host plant.
